Having earned a postgraduate degree in Kannada Literature and a diploma in journalism, Sheshadri initially ventured into the world of journalism. However, his passion for storytelling led him to the realms of cinema in 1990, where he began his journey as a screenplay and dialogue writer. His foray into filmmaking marked the beginning of a remarkable career that would redefine the landscape of Kannada cinema.

In 1995, Sheshadri transitioned to become an independent director, venturing into television serials, documentaries, and telefilms. His meticulous craftsmanship and keen understanding of human emotions soon caught the attention of audiences and critics alike.

Sheshadri's directorial debut in feature films came with "Munnudi" (A Preface) in 2000, a poignant exploration of societal issues that earned him widespread acclaim. This was followed by a series of acclaimed works, including "Atithi" (The Guest-2001), "Beru" (The Root-2004), "Thutturi" (The Bugle-2005), "Vimukthi" (Liberation-2008), "Bettada Jeeva" (Man of the Hills-2010), "Bharath Stores" (2012), and "December-1" (2013). Each of these films not only garnered critical acclaim but also clinched the prestigious National Film Award, marking an unparalleled feat in Indian cinema.
